'NZ Treasures – Half Penny'
The Story behind the Artwork
The 1960’s half penny, another old pre-decimal coin, now only found stashed away in the grandparents kitchen drawers or attics.
The coin itself features a hei-tiki with ornamental kowhaiwhai pattern on each side, I knew the Tiki had be painted as Pounamu (greenstone) and show all of the Pounamu grain and colours – this was quite a challenge!
