'NZ Treasures – 1 Cent Coin'
The Story behind the Artwork
The 1 cent coin. The original coin design was simple and had one Punga frond curved around to the no.1, so in keeping with the others in the series I have added more to the artwork. The Piwakawaka has been added to the Ponga frond which frequently dance and whistle on top of these trees.
This is the fourth artwork in the ‘NZ treasures coin series’ and there will be six in total of the old NZ coins - 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c 20c and 50c.
