I’m Matt Coates, artist from Auckland

Matt is a self taught artist from Titirangi Auckland.

Matt mostly works in watercolour and and draws his inspiration from the native bush surroundings and the local beaches.

“Watercolours is the art of adding layers and mastering the four P’s – practice, patience, perseverance and passion.”

Recently Matt has started working in acrylic which is very different to watercolours, working with thick paint on a easel has been a rewarding challenge for Matt so far.
