'NZ Treasures – 10 Cent Coin'
The Story behind the Artwork
The 10 cent coin, featuring the iconic Maori Koruru (carved mask as a decoration on a meeting house).
The artwork also features a carving tool with the Initials J.B, a subtle nod to James Berry, the artist of the original NZ coin designs introduced in 1967. This design is still used today on the current ten cent coin.
This is the third artwork in the ‘NZ treasures coin series’ and there will be six in total of the old NZ coins - 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c 20c and 50c.
