I Illustrated my First Picture Book!

I’m very proud to share with you my first ever illustrated book! This has been a dream of mine for quite some time to illustrate a kids book, I used to make little books when I was a kid and now have finally illustrated one.

Author Farid Bidgoli, (from the UK, lives in Thailand) contacted me in October 2021 about illustrating his second book ‘Where did my sock flipping-go?’, a funny rhyming story about a boys quest to find out who or what stole his green sock.

Over the next six months we worked together to produce the final book which is now available on Amazon. I was such a great project to work on and not a small task, storyboards and characters and settings where developed, making the visual story flow with the story right through the book.

Both Farid and I got some great honest feedback from our focus group – our kids, which is vital in creating a picture book, they will tell you if something doesn’t sound right, scary, or worst, not funny at all!

The final illustrations were created the traditional way, using watercolours and ink pens and scanned and added to the book. It was such as great experience and I was really thrown into the deep end of picture book illustration. I would love to tell you how the story ends and who or what steals the sock, but… I guess you will have to buy the book!

Check out the book on Amazon here.
